1. Who is the article about?
2. When does this article take place?
3. Where does the event in the article take place?
4. What is the article about?
5. Why do you think it was important enough for someone to write an article about?
6. What book would you vote for in the 5th-6th grade competition?
Your social studies project will be based upon these four ideas.
1. The Native Americans lived in harmony with their environment.
2. The arrival of the European explorers had terrible consequences for the Native Americans.
3. The New Colonies brought many changes to the New World.
4. The three groups of English colonies were very different from each other. (New England, Middle, Southern.)
A) Is there anything you don’t understand about these?
B) Are there any good websites that you know of that will help others to find useful information?
C) Is there anything you want to ask another student about these ideas?
1. Don’t harass others on the blog.
2. Don’t share personal information.
3. Respect others and use appropriate language.
4. Don’t make changes to others’ work.
5. Don’t vandalize the blog.
6. Make sure you give credit to other people for their ideas.
7. Exercise good judgment.
8. Disagree respectfully. Don’t criticize or insult.
Then, think about the pros and cons of having news delivered through a blog. Post a comment listing one “pro” and one “con”.
